Surrendering or rehoming cat resources
the Cat House is not a rescue itself but rather a small business who provides the space for foster cats to be seen by the public. We partner with different animal rescues and have compiled some resources for those needing to rehome or surrender a cat.
If you are not able to foster until adoption and need to immediately surrender, you unfortunately need to contact the closest local county animal control or try rehoming the pet yourself.
If looking to surrender ASAP:
Dupage County Animal Shelter
Chicago Animal Care and Control
You can try rehoming the cat yourself through friends/family or through social media. Local community facebook groups are a good option as well but we encourage you to meet them and make sure the cat is going to a good home. We also recommend charging a rehoming fee so the new adopter understands that getting a new pet is a commitment for the rest of the pet’s life.
Other Shelters in the area- each shelter will have their own intake process and requirements:

Friendly and Furry Cat Rescue
Almost Home Foundation
