Surrendering a Cat
The Cat House is not a rescue itself but rather a small business who provides the space for foster cats to be seen by the public. We partner with different animal rescues and have compiled some resources for those needing to re-home or surrender a cat.
If you are not able to foster until adoption and need to immediately surrender, your options are limited to contacting your local animal control or try re-homing the pet yourself.
If looking to surrender ASAP:
Dupage County Animal Shelter
Chicago Animal Care and Control
You can try re-homing the cat yourself through friends/family or through social media. Local community Facebook groups are a good option as well but we encourage you to meet the potential adopter and make sure the cat is going to a good home. We also recommend charging a re-homing fee so the new adopter understands that getting a new pet is a commitment.
Other Shelters in the area for outreach - each shelter will have their own intake process and requirements:
Heartland Animal Shelter
PAWS Chicago
Friendly and Furry Cat Rescue
Almost Home Foundation
Kane County Animal Control
Naperville Area Humane Society
Anderson Humane
South Suburban Humane Society
Tails Humane Society
